DataSource FAQ

What is DataSource?

DataSource is where rights holders (mainly agents and publishers) provide the film rights availability for the titles they manage.

    Where does my information surface?

Rights information added to DataSource will surface on MediaScout, our rights research tool for entertainment professionals.

    What is MediaScout?

MediaScout is an information service for film rights buyers to search for available IP and direct rights holder contact information.

What does it cost to use DataSource?

There is no fee to supply or manage rights data.

How do interested buyers contact me?

Your email address is listed so that interested parties can reach out to you directly. Communication does not go through MediaScout or DataSource.

Why did I receive a rights inquiry from you?

We received an inquiry from a professional party interested in the rights status of a title you manage. If we don't already have this information in MediaScout, we reach out to the rights holder to get this information.

How do I update my profile?

Log into DataSource. In the top right corner, open the Profile drop-down menu. Select the Agent Profile option. In the top right corner, there is an Edit button that will allow your team to update most fields.

What if the development status of my book is confidential?

If the status is confidential, we encourage users to use Contact for More Information in place of a specific status, so that your contact information will still be listed.

How do I remove rights representation?

Please email our Data Services Coordinator at DataServicesSupport@IngramContent.com with your request, including the EAN, title, and author in the message.

Should I add audio and translation rights as well?

Yes, we have provided an option in DataSource for you to enter Audio and Translation rights so that you can keep track of these rights within your account. However, Audio and Translation rights information will not appear on MediaScout.
